Where are you from and where do you live?

I’m from Oahu and I still live there but am traveling a lot.

How and when did you start surfing or kiting?

I learned to surf when I was very young, but I didn’t get into it until after I learned how to kite (at 14 years old). My dad taught me how to kite on a surfboard, and I fell in love with riding waves on all types of boards.

Do you do anything else besides surfing/kiting?

I have a clothing brand called The Shallow Reef Studio. I print my own designs on tshirts and sell them on Etsy.

Do you have a workout regime? If yes, how does it look like and how many times a week?

I don’t have a constant workout routine. But I make sure to do some kind of activity everyday whether its surfing or kiting or swimming.

Do you have a bedtime or morning routine? If yes how does it look like.

I normally do some stretching and foam rolling before I go to bed. It helps relax my muscles after a long day and helps me go to sleep.

Do you have any goals in life?

My goals are to push myself with my kiting and surfing, enjoy the life I have, and to live with a small environmental footprint.

What are your insecurities?

My insecurities are not being as good as the next person. But I remind myself that if I am doing my best then that is good enough!

What are the 3 things you like most about yourself?

I like my creativity, my strong legs, and my ability to learn new things.

How does your nutrition look like on a usual day?

When I am at home I like to eat fruit for breakfast, a salad, eggs, and sweet potato for lunch, and cooked veggie stir fry/ curry for dinner. When I’m traveling I normally end up eating a lot of bread and snacks and less healthy food.

What are your hobbies? Do you do any crafting?

I like to play guitar and sometimes paint.

What are your favorite kind of clothes?

Something loose and comfortable that I can wear everyday.

Do you have any pets?

I have a border collie named Kuma.

What make up do you like to use?

I don’t wear makeup but I use Honey Girl Organics skincare and All Good reef friendly sunscreen.

Whats in your beach bag?

Phone, wallet, sunnies, gopro, reusable utensils, sunscreen, hydroflask

Do you have a special hair routine?

I don’t do anything special. I rinse it after the ocean and wash it every couple days.

What is in your lugguage? How big is it and what goes always in?

I usually have a big board bag with a kiteboard and surfboard and wetsuits, and a duffle bag with kites, bars, and other gear. I take my clothes and electronics in a small carry on.

What would your dream weekend look like?

One day surfing glassy waves with friends, and the other day windy with waves for kiting!

What is a typical day like for you? What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

If there is good surf, I will usually wake up early and surf. If not, I will try to do some stretches, cook something healthy, and work on my computer. If there is good wind, I go to kite in the afternoon.

Where are you from and where do you live?

I am from North Los Angeles County and am currently living at my parents house in West Hills, California.

How and when did you start surfing or kiting?

My very first time on a surf board was at Malibu Makos surf camp when I was in elementary school. I didn’t really surf again until the age of 14 when I joined the Junior Lifeguard program during the summer at Zuma beach.

Do you do anything else besides surfing/kiting?

I’m an ocean lifeguard, model, content creator, youtuber, and instagrammer.

Do you have a workout regime? If yes, how does it look like and how many times a week?

I love going to hot power sculpt, swimming, and jogging with my dog in the evening. I try to work out every single time.

Do you have a bedtime or morning routine? If yes how does it look like.

My bedtime routine involves relaxing in a bath with lavender salts, lighting lots of candles, and then going through my skincare steps such as washing my face, putting on a mask, etc. I like to journal and read a little bit and then FaceTime with my boyfriend.

Do you have any goals in life?

I want to live in my dream house of a beachfront ranch, surf everyday, and own a business that I love.

What are your insecurities?

I have a few physical insecurities (who doesn’t?) but I try to turn those insecurities into something positive instead and love myself for them.

What are the 3 things you like most about yourself?

I’m kind, adventurous, and healthy/active.

How does your nutrition look like on a usual day?

I try to eat as healthy as possible- smoothies, acai bowls, fresh fruits and veggies, protein… but it’s all about balance. I also LOVE to treat myself to yummy things like cakes, frozen yogurt, and hot cheetos.

What are your hobbies? Do you do any crafting?

Photography, blogging, gardening, watercolor painting, violin, traveling

What are your favorite kind of clothes?

Loose and breezy linen. I love long pants and a crop top.

Do you have any pets?

I have a white Siberian husky with blue eyes named Shiro, which means white in Japanese.

What make up do you like to use?

I like to use Anatasia Beverly Hills eyebrow products (pencil and gel), any kind of waterproof mascara, and Origins matte eyeshadow in brown shades. I also like to use bronzer and blush when I go out. For my lips, I almost always just wear chapstick. My current favorite is the Coco Balm from Sun Bum.

Whats in your beach bag?

A book, my hydro flask filled with water, some snacks (clementines and rice balls usually), my GoPro/DSLR camera, sunscreen, a towel, a hat, and a bikini.

Do you have a special hair routine?

I like to use leave-in conditioner almost every night because my hair is really dry and damaged.

What is in your lugguage? How big is it and what goes always in?

I almost always overpack. I always bring my camera equipment tailored for where Im traveling to (for example: my drone, DSLR, vlog camera, gopro, and water housing). If I’m going on a surf trip, I bring either a longboard bag (9,6”) or a shortboard bag filled with bikinis, snorkel gear, and towels that also works as padding.

What would your dream weekend look like?

I’d like to spend the weekend with my boyfriend at a beautiful AirBnB that we rented overlooking the surf. It’d be warm and sunny and we’d surf, eat great food, go to the spa, have some afternoon tea…

What is a typical day like for you? What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

Right now I’m at home for the summer at my parent’s house so I can lifeguard at the beach. Since I’ve been done with college (it’s been almost a year since I graduated), my days are quite leisurely and involve either spending time with my boyfriend, or when I’m at home I work-out, walk my dog, go surfing, and hang out with my family. The first thing I do when I wake up is check my phone- a really bad habit.

AUDREY MEYER

Audrey_profile_encuentro.jpg

Where are you from and where do you live?
I am from France (was born in Strasbourg) and I have been living in Cabarete, the Dominican Republic since 1999.

How and when did you start surfing or kiting?

I started surfing in La Reunion Island in 1997 and kitesurfing in Cabarete in 1999.

Do you do anything else besides surfing/kiting?

Yes (hahaha) I do (although I spend my major time in the water kitesurfing, surfing, windsurfing, paddle boarding or foiling). I work as fitness and nutrition coach at BlossomFitlife.com helping people becoming their better self.

Do you have a workout regime? If yes, how does it look like and how many times a week?

I workout  at the gym 3 times a week to stay strong, avoid injuries and be able to push myself in the water. I try to incorporate enough time to recover and rest properly between workout/ocean session (with fascia stretching/ nap/at least 7hrs of sleep/and meditation).

Do you have a bedtime or morning routine? If yes how does it look like.

YES. In the evening, I try to turn off my devices (phone/TV) one hour before going to bed. In the morning, I don’t go on social media/watch the news at least one hour after waking up. I wake up and take my dogs for a sunrise walk before hitting the line up and going surfing.

Do you have any goals in life?

My goal is to inspire people to live a healthy, simple and happy life, respecting all living being on earth and respecting our planet.

What are your insecurities?

Perfectionism could be one of my insecurity. I have tendency to have high standards for everything I am doing or expect and sometime I get desappointed. This is somehting I am working on: I try to remind myself that’s ok not always being on the top but enjoying each and every moment.

What are the 3 things you like most about yourself?

I love to give and I think people should give more, and be more generous. My mother taught me that at a very young age and I am very thanksful about that. I realized I am becoming less and less materialist and am very happy about that. I am more attached to people (real people) than things. Nowaday it’s so easy to collect clothes, documents, „virtual friends“, ... and we forget about love and living in the present. I learn to forgive: forgive other but also forgive myself and move on from the past.

How does your nutrition look like on a usual day?

I love to eat colorful food from the earth, made with love and shared with friends. I try to avoid processed food and buy locally.

What are your hobbies? Do you do any crafting?

When I am not playing in the ocean, or coaching clients, I enjoy to play ukulele, spend time with my friends or/and my dogs.

What are your favorite kind of clothes?

I am the happies barefoot, in my bikinis. And that’s what I am wearing 80% of my day.

Do you have any pets?

I have 2 dogs, one cat I love unconditionally.

What make up do you like to use?

I dont use any make up. I use a good facial cream and a tonic water to rehydrate my skin because I spend a lot of time in the sun and the water. I am very careful about what I put on my skin (your skin is your body’s largest organ!)

Whats in your beach bag?

A bikini (or 2). I always have an extra bikini somewhere for a surprised surf session! My bottle of water, my phone, a pen and my “idea notebook“, some business cards.

Do you have a special hair routine?

I try to rinse off my hairs with fresh water after every ocean session and put some conditioners once a week with a soft shampoo. I can’t blow drie my hair or do anything fancy with it. That’s why I keep them short.

What is in your lugguage? How big is it and what goes always in?

My luggage looks like a surfboard bag. It fits 2 surfboards, 4 bikinis, 2 rashgards, 1 pareo, 2 sets of fins and leashes, 2 blocks of surfwax, superglue (if I cut myself. Used many times!), a book, my passport and credit card.

What would your dream weekend look like?

6-7 ft waves, only my friends and me surfing 2 days straight and then ending up the day with a delicious dinner all together.

What is a typical day like for you? What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

First thing I do when I wake up is drink a big glass of water with lime. Then I cuddle with my dogs on the sofa for 10-15 minutes before taking them on a walk. Then I prepare my surfboards and head to the beach for an early session with a banana and peanut butter. Once I am back home, I have a huge breakfast and get ready to teach my first fitness class. When I am done teaching, I either enjoy lunch with friends or at home where I have a quick 30 minutes nap. Afternoon are for playing in the ocean again. I would kitesurf or windsurf according to the wind speed. I enjoy to unwind in the evening playing a bit of ukulele, visiting friends and then preparing dinner, meditating and going to bed early for another quick ass early morning surf.

I never wash my hair with shampoo, after surf I rinse it out and wash it with conditioner. I sometimes sleep with a braid but lately I’ve been a bit lazy with that.

What is in your lugguage? How big is it and what goes always in?

It depends if its a long or a short travel but I like to travel light. Only the most necesary. My laptop is always there, cause I keep working.

What would your dream weekend look like?

Beautiful bounty island with long dreamy longboard walls. Just surf and jummy foods. Heaven.
